What is Regatta Mode?
Regatta Mode lets race organisers set up a live event inside Rowlytics. Each crew records their session as normal, but their GPS positions are streamed in real time to a shared map that anyone can watch in a browser — no app required.

Setting Up a Regatta
For Organisers
- Create a regatta. Open Rowlytics and go to Regattas → My Regattas → tap the + button. Enter a name, date, location, and optional contact details.
- Share the spectator link. Your live spectator page is at
realtime.rowlytics.com/regatta/your-regatta-name. Post it on social media, club websites, or send it directly to supporters. - Let crews request to join. Rowers can browse active regattas in the app and request to join yours with their boat name, class, and club.
- Review and approve requests. Open your regatta to see pending requests. Approve or reject each one — only approved crews can broadcast GPS on race day.
- Pre-assign crews (optional). If you prefer, you can still add crews manually and share the join code for them to claim their slot.
For Crews / Rowers
There are two ways to join a regatta:
Option A — Request to Join (Recommended)
- Browse active regattas. Open Rowlytics and go to Regattas. Tap on any active regatta to see its details.
- Tap "Request to Join". Enter your boat name, class, and club. The organiser will be notified.
- Wait for approval. You'll see a status badge — "Pending Approval" while waiting, "Approved" once the organiser accepts your request.
- Record on race day. Start a recording session as normal. Your GPS data is automatically streamed to the live regatta map.
Option B — Join by Code
- Get the join code from the organiser.
- Go to Regattas → Join Regatta and enter the code to claim your pre-assigned crew slot.
- Record on race day. Start a recording session as normal.
For Spectators
- Open the spectator link in any browser — phone, tablet, or computer. No app required.
- Watch the race live. Each crew appears as a coloured marker on the map, updating in real time. Tap a boat to follow it.
Tips
- Make sure all crew members have a strong GPS signal before the start. Open Rowlytics a few minutes early so the phone acquires satellites.
- Assign distinct colours to each crew so spectators can easily tell them apart on the map.
- Organisers: review join requests the day before the race so crews know they're confirmed.
- The spectator page works on any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) — desktop or mobile.
- After the race, every rower keeps their full Rowlytics session — stroke analysis, splits, maps, and charts.
